Across the two divisions, several Indian cricketers played in the round of County Championship 2023. Here is how they fared.
County Championship 2023 Division One
Karun Nair (Northamptonshire)
Nile was drafted in as a replacement for Sam Whiteman and did well on his debut for Northants, scoring 78 points and adding 147 with second wicket Emilio Gay. After both teams declared on the final day, Ben Sanderson’s hat-trick reduced Warwickshire’s lead to 24-5 in the fourth innings, but the hosts ultimately won by two wickets. Barring a miracle, Northants face relegation to Division Two.
Jayant Yadav (Middlesex)
In the first County Championship game of the summer, Jayan scored five goals as Middlesex scored 194 points against Lancashire at Old Trafford, but was unable to stand up with the ball. , finished 5-131. He ruled out the hundreds of sackings of Luke Wells (97) and George Bell (91), but the most spectacular sacking was that of Josh Bohannon.
Yuzvendra Chahal (Kent)
Chahal batted an entire innings of 56 overs on his Championship debut, helping Kent see off Nottinghamshire at Canterbury with 3-63 and 2-43. Of particular note isThe Ripper , who knocked down the stumps of Lyndon James, giving him his first county wicket.

Neither county played in this round.
County Championship 2023 Division Two
Cheteshwar Pujara (Sussex)
Sussex captain Pujara started two matches but failed to score in either of them. He hit 26 and hit 23 against Leicestershire at Hove, before hitting a six in the second innings, his fifth of the season. Even with a cut-off of 200 his runs, he holds the highest average for Sussex this season (54.08).
Jaydev Unadkat (Sussex)
Unadkat, who was Pujara’s teammate in India’s Saurashtra and is currently at Sussex, found success here after a quiet performance against Durham. In his first innings he took 3 for 23 to beat Leicestershire for 108. In the second game he recovered with 6-94 as Sussex won a thriller by 15 runs. For them, only Ollie Robinson has had better innings and games this season.
Pujara will play under Unadkat in the Ranji Trophy, but the roles will be reversed in the County Championship.
