The ATP number two has not won a title since Wimbledon in July, losing to the likes of Tommy Paul, Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner and now Dimitrov.
However, Alcaraz still has a chance to close the gap and will now return to Europe to compete in his first ATP 500 event in Basel.
And despite recent defeats, the Wimbledon champion believes she is playing “great tennis”. “There are many lessons that can be improved upon in training before the next tournament.
He continued like this. “I think I’m playing great tennis. Even if I don’t make it to the quarterfinals, even if I lose in the semifinals, I think I’m playing great tennis.
“So I have to train 100% in the next few weeks before the next tournament, Basel, so I’m going to do my best in this tournament.”
t is not the result I wanted, but… we are going home! 🥲 Congratulations to @GrigorDimitrov for the win! 🤝🏻 Time to get ready for the final stage of the season!

Alcaraz will begin his campaign on an indoor court in Switzerland on Monday, October 23rd, with the tournament starting in the coming weeks.
In the baseline…
Alcaraz has not been able to win the kind of titles we are accustomed to in recent months, but the Spaniard still put in some strong performances and reached the final stage of the tournament Did. Additionally, Alcaraz has lost all of his losses against top-20 players, which can happen especially in the final stages of a long tennis season. Still, Djokovic clearly has the ability to be No. 1 by the end of the year and seems unlikely to make a mistake in two tournaments where he has had great success over the years.
