Boris Becker can get Holger Rune to the top, says Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev helped Boris Becker to have a huge positive impact on Holger Ruhn’s career and they extended their partnership until next season.

Former six-time Grand Slam champion Becker joined Loon’s team as a coach at the beginning of the year, something of a coup for the young Dane.

They have now decided to maintain this relationship until the 2024 season, and Zverev thinks it is a very smart move.

“He’s just a tennis expert,” Zverev told Sky Sports Germany about Becker.

“He understands tennis, he knows what it means to be at the top and he knows how to get there. I think he will be of great help to Holger as well.”

Mr Becker suffered serious reputational damage after serving time in a British prison for bankruptcy fraud.

However, this will not be a problem for Zverev when it comes to Becker resuming his coaching career.

“(It) has nothing to do with sports,” Zverev said. “From a sporting perspective, he is simply one of the greatest experts in tennis.

Zverev himself worked with Becker during his role at the German Tennis Federation (DTB), but the relationship never went beyond that.

When asked if he would consider working with Becker again, Zverev answered “yes”.

“But that won’t happen in the near future.” He’s busy. That’s not possible now. ”

Boris Becker ‘already improved’ Holger Rune

Becker has had a longer career in tennis media than as a coach, but he has certainly made a mark for himself.

He had a successful partnership with Novak Djokovic for three years from 2014 to 2017. During this time, Djokovic won the Major six times, the Masters fourteen times, and the Tour Finals twice.

Djokovic had an early chance to see how his former mentor helped Loon at the Paris Masters, and even though Loon was the underdog that day, Djokovic gave glowing reviews. Ta.

“Since I started working with Boris, his play has improved a lot in the last few weeks,” Djokovic said at the Paris Masters earlier this month.

“It was strange to see Boris in the opponent’s penalty area. But we knew it could happen this week. We wish Holger and him the best of luck in Turin.”
