Australia T20I tour of India: Team news

Members of the Australian team who are already in India for the World Cup will remain there after the T20I series tournament. These include Smith, Warner, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis.

Wade’s captaincy appointment is temporary as Australia’s last T20I captain, Mitchell Marsh, is absent from the tour. Wade, who last played international cricket in his T20 World Cup last year, will find it a big challenge to lead his Australian team in India.

Across format fast bowlers such as Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins were rested, as was leg-spinner Adam Zampa. Tanveer Sangha is the only spinner in the team, while Glenn Maxwell is expected to take over the duties of second spinner, similar to the ongoing World Cup. Also features Matt His Short and Travis Head for spin support if needed.
