Abrar Ahmed has been ruled out of the first Test match between Australia and Pakistan, at Perth. Pakistan have called up Sajid Khan as replacement.
Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed has been ruled out of the first Test match against Australia, scheduled to begin on 14 December 2023 at Perth Stadium.
During the match between Pakistan and the Prime Minister’s Office in Canberra, Abrar left the field due to “severe pain in his right leg near the knee”. During the examination, the medical team made a preliminary diagnosis andan MRI scan was required.
Abler did not bat in this match but bowled 27 overs, conceding 80 runs and dismissing Marcus Harris. Pakistan scored 9 for his 391 and then the Prime Minister’s team reached 4 for his 367 and the match ended in a draw.
Mr Abrar will undergo an “intervention” in Perth on Monday 13 December. He will then undergo “conservative rehabilitation” under the supervision of medical staff.
In 6 Test matches, Abrar has taken 38 wickets, taking 31.07 wickets in each. These include his 7-114 and his 4-120 on his Test debut in Multan in 2022/23, making him only the second player to take his 10 wickets in his first appearance. He is a Pakistani bowler.
“He has not been ruled out of the Test series yet,” the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a press release, “However, in view of the player’s health status for this and upcoming tours, further evaluation will allow him to participate in the Test series.” “This is the second test of this tour.”
Pakistan replaced Abrar with off-spinner Sajid Khan. After seven matches, Sajid has picked up 22 wickets at 37.81, of which 12 wickets will be used in the 2021-22 Mirpur Test. Neither Abrar nor Sajid have played Test cricket outside Asia or Zimbabwe.
Australia will host Pakistan and play three Test matches in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. Pakistan have not won a Test match on Australian soil since Sydney in 1995/96.
