Ahead of the inconsequential encounter, Soccernet.ng previews five players to watch for the Super Eagles when they take on Sao Tomean on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Gift Orban: (Ghent, Belgium)

The 21-year-old has put in some impressive performances in recent months since joining Belgian Pro League club Gent from Stabík. He scored his 20 goals in 22 second-half games for the club, and he started his new season with a further 6 goals.

Orbán, who has been called up to the national team for the first time, will be hoping to make his first appearance and prove his skills against the Central African country on Sunday.

Another new addition to the national team is in-form striker Victor Boniface from Bayer 04 Leverkusen. After an impressive season in Belgium, the 22-year-old moved to the Bay Arena this summer and got off to a quick start with four goals in three games in Germany.

Boniface is hoping to make his debut this weekend and will be looking to score his first goal for Nigeria against a Sao Tome defense that has conceded 20 goals in five games.

Jordan Tornarija: (Ghent, Belgium)

Trunarija has represented Germany at various youth levels and recently changed his nationality to represent Nigeria.

The 26-year-old was called up to the Super Eagles squad for the first time by head coach Jose Peceiro.

Tornarija also hopes to get the chance to prove his place in the team a few months before the start of the 2023 AFCON tournament.

Chukwueze believes he still has much to prove for the national team after joining Italian giants AC Milan from Villarreal in the summer.

Five years after being promoted to the first team, Chukwueze’s time with the team has not been very fulfilling, but he is hopeful that his move to a new club will turn around his performance with the Super Eagles.

Bruno Onyemaech: (Boasvita, Portugal)

Onyemachi has another chance to make his debut for Nigeria after being selected in the squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe.

The 24-year-old has made a great start to the Portuguese league season with his club Boavista, helping them pick up 10 points from their first four games.

Onyemachi may finally be able to make his long-awaited Super Eagles debut as head coach Peceiro is hoping to give the rookie his first appearance.
