Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf scored Royal Antwerp’s opening goal, but a lively second-half performance saw Porto fight back and win 4-1.Soccer strong> reports.
Antwerp returned to continental action on Wednesday when they hosted Porto at the Bosilstadion. When the match started, the home team had lost the first two games, but Porto had picked up three points from two games.
Youssuf started in the center of the park for his team and was tasked with fending off Porto’s attacks. He did a good job allowing Antwerp to dominate the ball and create chances in the first half. In the end, Antwerp scored a goal in that minute. Yusuf was in the mix when he scored his first league goal for the Champions.
The Nigerian midfielder was the first to catch the rebound inside the penalty area and put a shot on goal to make it 1-0.
Antwerp held the lead until half-time but fell apart after the break. Due to injury, Porto was unable to use Zaidou Sanusi.
However, they succeeded in a spectacular reversal. Evanilson scored a hat trick, Stephen Eustaquio scored the extra point, and the match ended 4-1 for him.
Chidera Ejuk was introduced into the match in the 77th minute, but could not contribute much to Antwerp’s attack.
