Yashasvi Jaiswal Becomes The Youngest Indian Player To Score A T20I Century In International Cricket

India’s young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has become the youngest Indian player to score a century in a T20 international. This was his first century by an Indian player in the Asian Games and his fourth fastest century by an Indian player in T20 cricket.

The left-handed opener played brilliantly on second-tier wickets, scoring 100 runs in just 49 balls against Nepal and scoring the first international T-score of the 20th century. India scored 202/4 in 20 overs against Nepal in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

After winning the toss, the Men in Blue elected to bat first in China. Jaiswal dominated the innings, hitting eight fours and seven sixes. In 9.5 overs, southpaw and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (23 off 25) scored 103 runs for the first wicket. The opener earned his well-deserved hundred in just his 48 balls, pushing the bowler into the leg side for a single.

India defeated Nepal by 23 points and advanced to the semi-finals of the continental tournament. But Nepal, contrary to most expectations, gave them a fight that no one expected. It would be no exaggeration to say that India almost escaped a panic today as Nepal finished the match with 179/9 as against India’s 202/4.

Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s opener enjoys batting with a positive attitude and is always on the lookout for scoring opportunities. He uses his feet and depth in the circle to try to control the bowlers by forcing them to change line and length, making him the perfect batsman for the top-order Men in Blue.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s ability to step up and deliver winning performances in important matches has proven to be an outstanding quality in his short professional career. Even the best batsmen can falter under the nerves of a finals match, but the Mumbai players are unfazed by the moment and will play a pivotal role in their team’s chances at the ongoing 2023 Asian Games.

If India’s key players are not in the team, chances will be given to players who have performed well in the Indian Premier League and domestic cricket. The young brigade will aim to win the gold medal by overcoming the challenges of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the tournament.
