They will face West Indies in the second and final match of the series at the Gabba, scheduled from January 25 to 29. This match gives the defending champion a new chance to consolidate pole position.
Australia currently lags behind India. India briefly held the top spot after defeating South Africa in Cape Town in the shortest Test ever, but their momentum ended with the conclusion of the Australia-Pakistan Test. India won two of her four matches and currently has 26 points and a scoring average of 54.16.
West Indies, who suffered a humiliating defeat in Adelaide in the third WTC Test of 2023-2025, have dropped one place to 8th place with a points ratio of 11.11. They suffered two losses, but the rainy match against India ended in a draw, giving them four points. West Indies are one of two teams, along with Sri Lanka, who are yet to win a match this cycle.
The loss to the West Indies saw England improve their only place, moving to seventh place. They won two of his five matches and drew one.
