Wolff reiterates relation with Vasseur fine amid Hamilton move

Toto Wolff reiterated that his relationship with Frédéric Vasseur is good, adding that he would like to further address the situation with Lewis Hamilton.

Since the news broke that Hamilton would be leaving Mercedes for Ferrari in F1 in 2025, it has certainly created a new situation for everyone, especially Wolff. The Austrian will have to manage not only the driver but also the team in 2024.

This is a delicate situation, given that Mercedes, despite its trust in Hamilton, must consider the wisdom of not revealing too many details about the car. It’s been a few weeks, but Wolfe still has a year to go, and unforeseen circumstances are sure to arise.

“The team’s morale, for example, the dynamism we had this year, we were able to get through the winter and it was great,” Wolff said at the press conference. “We’ve spent a lot of time looking inward and telling us what we can do better. And what we’re seeing is people who are really energized and ready to fight. It is a well-organized organization.

“And develop faster cars while staying true to our ideas and values.” That’s what we want to achieve this year. It might have been awkward at first, as we’ll be doing this for the rest of the season, but now everything is falling into place. And it’s just being focused on the moment. And the next race is just around the corner.

“I think it was obviously a new situation when the news broke. This was something we weren’t expecting at this point in the season. And it’s a new dynamic. We have to work on it. .Still, we stayed together and spent some time at the factory and various events. On a human level, that’s perfectly fine.

“That’s also from a professional point of view.” We have a full season ahead of us and we want to have the most competitive car. These drivers will be given the opportunity to achieve the best possible results. It would be great if we could get some good results with Lewis this year. We had a wonderful time. I still have 10 months left and I’m ready to give up. ” Wolff summed up.

As Mr. Wolf points out, nothing has changed in the relationship with Vasseur. Although the Frenchman initially did not respond to WhatsApp when the rumors surfaced, the Austrian understood the situation in which Hamilton wanted to get the message across in the first place.

“When I WhatsApped Fred two days ago, he didn’t respond,” Wolff recalls. “So I guess I knew. But no, Fred didn’t tell me. Lewis felt like he wanted to tell me first. As for Fred, he didn’t do a good job. You know, we’ve been friends for a long time. We also recognize that we are racetrack competitors.

“So it’s not always easy to strike a balance, because we have an obligation and an obligation to do what’s best for the benefit of our team. And that’s exactly in this situation. That’s what Fred did. I understand the logic. Of course, things aren’t always easy in such a good relationship. Workaround. But that has no effect or effect on my relationship with Fred. And that’s what I get to spend with Fred,” Wolff summed up.
