Nwabali was a revelation for Nigeria at the 2023 African Cup of Nations. Surprisingly, he was added to the squad a few weeks before the start of the competition, but he took over the number one spot despite Francis Uzoho wearing the jersey.

With Nwabali’s goal, the Super Eagles only conceded one goal in this tournament, and there were no notable mistakes during the tournament.

Unfortunately, in the quarterfinal match against Cameroon, I collided with Christopher Wu who was trying to steal the ball and suffered a bruise.

The team’s physical therapist treated him, but it didn’t last long and he left the game in the 80th minute. However, after the game, the medical team determined that it was not serious.

Still, Nwabali is not yet fit for Friday’s quarter-final against Angola and there are concerns he could miss the match.

However, before the match, Coach Peceiro announced that the appointment of Chippa United’s goalkeeper would be decided after a second-half test.

According to Soccernet.ng, Peseiro said: “I will make the final decision today. We are waiting for the last test, but if he is not feeling well, I will give Francis Uzoho and Olunreke Oho I trust him,” he said.

Uzoho was the first choice to represent Nigeria ahead of AFCON, but he has often been weak and Nigerian fans are skeptical of his abilities. However, if Mr. Nwabari is not available, he will likely fill the post.
