Watch: West Indies Fielder Flies To Take Horizontal, Full-Stretch Screamer At Point In U19 World Cup

Watch: West Indies Under-19 captain Stephan Pascal took a contender for catch of the tournament in his side’s washout against Australia in the U19 World Cup.

After Australia posted an early score of 227-8, West Indies’ chase was limited to just 4.3 overs due to rain. Pascal was sent off eight times during this period, but he has already made his mark on the contest by making a spectacular catch at the point, leaping all over his body and taking the ball parallel to the ground.

Australia’s second leading scorer, Rough McMillan, was released as a batsman. He scored 29 points, aiming for cut shots from Isai Thorne’s short and long throws. The ball was there to be hit and McMillan connected well. But he thought Pascal was missing. Pascal flew to his left and caught the ball, throwing it away to celebrate. His floppy hat and sunglasses somehow stayed in place the entire time.

However, the lack of results hurt West Indies’ chances. If they win, they will be level with South Africa and Australia on six points, and their place in the semi-finals will depend on their net run rate. Instead, the points will be split, meaning the Proteas and the Australians will face her two players from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in the semi-finals.
