Watch: Trent Boult Strikes First Ball, Litton Das Skies Catch To Fine-Leg With ‘Ordinary’ Flick

Watch: Trent Boult, the first-over maverick, picked up yet another wicket early on, dismissing Litton Das on the first ball of the New Zealand-Bangladesh game in the 2023 World Cup on Friday (October 13).

Boult has taken 60 wickets in the first over of all his professional white-ball matches combined, most recently against Bangladesh in the World Cup in Chennai.

The New Zealander immediately sent an inswinger from the leg side to Lytton, who effortlessly drove it into the square. However, his shot didn’t have the power he expected, and he allowed the able-bodied Matt Henry to catch it. Commentator Anjum Chopra later described the shot as “ordinary”.

Bangladesh were the first to bat, trailing 56-4 as Boult scored 30 runs in the first six overs and Litton took the only scalp.

Skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim steadied the ship and led the team with 126-4 after 27 overs.
