Watch: Sri Lanka Newbie Castles Fakhar Zaman With Vicious, Late-Swinging Yorker In Crucial Asia Cup Clash

Watch: A pinpoint inswinging yorker from Pramod Madushan got through the defence of Fakhar Zaman and castled his stumps in the Asia Cup Super Fours clash between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Colombo today (September 14).

Pakistan announced their starting lineup on the eve of the match, making five changes from the disappointing game against India. Fakhar Zaman was not initially in the starting line-up against Sri Lanka, but managed to feature in the match after Imam-ul-Haq was absent due to back spasms.

Meanwhile, Fakhar’s first substitute, Mohammad Haris, stayed on and Fakhar batted with Abdullah Shafiq.

Fakhar would have wanted to make the most of this sudden opportunity after his poor performances in the Asia Cup so far, but Pramod Madhushan had other plans.

Madushan made his debut in the 2022 Asia Cup, which was played in T20I format. In his first appearance he won against Pakistan with a time of 2 minutes 21 seconds and in the final with a time of 4 minutes 34 seconds. He bowled with Fakhar in the final.

He fared much better with the new ball here, hitting a perfect yorker on the second ball of his fifth over. As the in-swing to the left-hander went over the wicket, Fakhar could not get his bat to hit the ball and it went through the gate, giving Sri Lanka the ball for the first time.

Earlier, the match had to be shortened to 45 overs for each team due to a rain delay of more than two hours. He was 130-5 in 27.4 overs as Pakistan’s play was halted due to rain, but play is likely to resume.
