Watch: ‘Shouldn’t Have Done That’ – Mushfiqur Rahim Gets Out Obstructing The Field

Watch: Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladesh batter to be out obstructing the field during the ongoing second BAN vs NZ Test in Dhaka, Mirpur today (December 6).

Rahim etched his name in history, albeit not for the best of reasons, when he was adjudged to have blocked the field on the opening day of the second Test of Bangladesh against New Zealand in Mirpur. He was the first Bangladeshi to be dismissed for his style in international cricket.

In the 41st over of Bangladesh’s innings, Rahim defended a delivery from Kyle Jamison’s back foot. The ball fell under his eye and bounced offside. However, Rahim feared the ball would fall into the stumps and he instinctively swatted it away with his glove.

New Zealand complained of blocking the pitch, resulting in the on-field umpire referring the matter to the television umpire, who ruled him out even though the ball was not heading for the stumps.

Rahim looked good after handling almost 90 balls and hitting 35 balls. His wicket fell for fifth and Bangladesh struggled to 104 for five.
