Watch: Shoriful Islam deceived Liam Livingstone with an off-cutter and knocked over his off-stump in the process during Bangladesh’s match against England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala today (October 10).
Bangladesh took the lead after winning in Dharamsala, but were met with a full-scale attack from England. Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan reached a 115-run opening partnership in just 17.5 overs, the latter being particularly tough on the Bangladesh bowlers.
Bairstow was dismissed for Shakib Al Hasan’s 52 off 59 balls, but it did nothing to help Bangladesh. Joe Root came into bat at his number 3 and hit just 68 balls and he hit 82 balls, off Malan he added 151 runs and took his second wicket.
Malan, on the other hand, reached his century and was dismissed in the 38th over for 140 off 107 balls. Jos Buttler and Harry Brook were No. 4 and No. 5, each scoring 20 points.
Liam Livingstone is now in 6th place with 8.1 overs remaining. He was all set to do the serial killings he’s so good at, but that wasn’t the case. The first ball he faced was a clever off-cutter from Scholiful. He grabbed the surface and hit the outside edge to beat the off stump.
It was Shoriful’s third wicket of his spell. He was in charge of Buttler and Root early in the innings. After a strong comeback by Bangladesh in the death overs, England finished on 364 for nine. In the last 10 overs, they scored just 66 runs and lost 6 wickets.
Mahedi Hasan was another big wicket-taker for Bangladesh, scoring 4-71 in 8 overs.
