Watch: Shaheen Afridi dismissed Babar Azam in the PSL 2024 match between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi at the Gaddafi Stadium yesterday (February 25).
In the 12th match of PSL 2024, Lahore Qalandars won the toss and were elected 1st. Peshawar were able to form a great opening partnership thanks to Saim Ayub and captain Babar Azam.
Attacker Ayub scored 88 out of 55 in a knock that included eight fours and four sixes. Babar led the opposition innings with a strike rate of 133.33.
When the score read 135-0 after 14 overs, it was time for Babar to step on the gas and take a big leap. Afridi scored 13 in the first two overs and came on in the third over.
On the second ball of the 15th over, Afridi sent a back-of-length ball to the stumps and Babar tried to bowl it to mid-wicket. A lack of timing allowed him to get the ball to the deep fielder, who took a nice low catch and ended Babar’s innings on 48 (36). This was the third time Afridi had sacked Babar in the T20s.
With the efforts of Rovman Powell and Mohammad Haris in the final stages, Peshawar improved to 211 wins and 4 losses. Afridi finished with his 3-33 off his 4 overs.
In the chase, Rassie van der Dussen put up a brave performance and scored an unbeaten hundred, but without the support of other batsmen, Lahore fell pitifully short by eight runs.
