Watch: Shaheen Afridi lived up to his reputation as a first-over tormentor after he dismissed Mohammad Rizwan with a ball that swung back in to dismantle his stumps in the 2024 PSL clash today (February 27).
Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen hit back at Multan Sultans’ opponent Rizwan with a sharp delivery in the fifth over of Multan’s innings, giving his team an early advantage again. A long ball was bowled outside the stumps and Rizwan tried to flick the ball away with his front foot for the first few runs. However, he could only manage an inside edge as the ball came back sharply before slipping through the gap between his bat pads and onto his leg stump.
Shaheen had a habit of taking wickets in the first over of the innings. This was his 27th wicket in the first over of a T20 match. He also took his 13 wickets in the first over of the T20I. Shaheen in his first over of ODI he took 8 wickets while in his Test cricket he took 5 wickets.
Rizwan, who had scored 43, 82, 0 and 51 runs in the last four matches in the PSL, was sent off for another disappointment against Lahore. Meanwhile, Shaheen conceded his 13 runs in his first two overs.
Lahore currently sit at the bottom of the PSL points table and have not won a single game in five games. On the other hand, Multan is at the top with 4 wins in his 5 games.
