Watch: Rohit Sharma Breaks Chris Gayle’s All-Time Record With Trademark Pull Six Off Naveen Ul Haq

Watch: Rohit Sharma smashed a trademark powerful pull-shot off Naveen-ul-haq to go past Chris Gayle’s all-time international six-hitting record against Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup today (October 11).

The Indian captain became the fastest Indian player to score 100 runs in the Men’s ODI World Cup in Delhi. He made 12 of his fours and four of his sixes on his way to reaching triple digits. This was his 100th and his seventh in the World Cup, the most in this competition for centuries.

Another record he broke with his brutal innings was the all-time record of six for the most in T20I, ODI and Test cricket combined. Gayle was the all-time record holder with 553 sixes in his international career. Rohit fell two short of Gayle’s record in the match against Afghanistan but overtook him in the eighth over of India’s chase.

Taking advantage of a short ball from Naveen, he stepped back and picked up the ball, pivoting on his back foot and sending the ball across the leg boundary. Rohit missed his Naveen’s previous ball for four which took him to his fifty and a six got him his second consecutive boundary.

He continued his success with another six and four points against Azmatullah Omarzai, taking India closer to the target of 273 points.

Rohit and Ishan Kishan put on 156 runs off 112 balls before Kishan was dismissed for 47 runs by Rashid Khan.
