Watch: Rachin Ravindra Reaches Maiden Test Hundred In Record Stand With Kane Williamson | NZ Vs SA

Watch: In the first Test of the two-match series against South Africa, at Mount Maunganui, Rachin Ravindra hit his maiden Test hundred.

New Zealand were asked to bat in their first Test match and after Tshepo Moleki hit the first ball in Test cricket followed by Dane Patterson, they were 39 for 2. Defeated. p >

Kane Williamson (112 not out) and Rachin Ravindra (118 not out) then added back-to-back 219 runs as New Zealand finished the first day at Bay Oval with 258-2. This is currently the highest third wicket stand for New Zealand and his third highest stand among all wickets against South Africa.

Ravindra impressed on his Test debut in Kanpur in 2021-22. He bowled 91 balls in the fourth innings as New Zealand saved the Test match with nine balls remaining and 52 balls remaining. He was left for the next Test match in Mumbai, but only played one more time in this format. In his three career matches, Ravindra has scored 73 runs at 14.60 and 3 wickets at 62.67. He had never competed in the top six.

The 2023 World Cup changed everything. Ravindra, who played as a substitute for Williamson at number three, scored 100 on his World Cup debut and finished with 578 runs at 64.22 and five wickets.

Therefore, there was some surprise when New Zealand did not select Ravindra in the starting eleven for the Test match in Bangladesh immediately after the World Cup.

Two years later, Ravindra was finally included in the Test squad and responded with his first Test hundred, albeit against a South African eleven that included six debutants. He flicked Patterson twice and reached the milestone with 189 pitches.

At 24 years and 78 days, he became New Zealand’s third-youngest Test centurion after Guiff Vivian (19 years, 121 days) and Williamson (21 years, 228 days) against South Africa.
