Watch: Prasidh Krishna Finds New-ball Swing, Takes Two In Two In First Over

Watch: India quick Prasidh Krishna delivered twin blows with the new ball in his first over against Australia. The spell claimed the prized scalp of Steve Smith for a golden duck during the second ODI of the series in Indore on September 24.

Australia started the run chase with a required run rate of 8 runs per over. To give India the best chance of reaching its huge target of 400, the visitors needed to be at their best from the start. The clumsy approach backfired and resulted in the loss of two Australian wickets in the second over.

After recovering from a lower back injury that sidelined him for more than a year, Krishna wanted to make the most of his limited opportunities. As Mohammed Shami’s new ball partner, he bowled the second over of the run chase with vigor and enthusiasm.

The lanky pacer hit the second pitch. Australia’s opening pitcher Matthew Short hit a long shot, but was overwhelmed by the sudden rebound. The shot went over the edge but was safely blocked by Ravichandran Ashwin in the deep third.

The next ball was almost an encore to the final sending off. Skipper Smith threw his hand at the wide ball, but the ball was swung further away. Shubman Gill potted the ball as sure as he was at home inside the cordon and rewarded the fast bowler with his second scalp on his two balls.
