Video: Devon Conway performs an audacious one-handed paddle sweep in a foursome during New Zealand’s 2023 World Cup warm-up match against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday, October 2.
Conway was dismissed for a golden duck in New Zealand’s first warm-up match against Pakistan, but turned his form around with a 73-ball 78 against South Africa. In his innings he had one six and 11 fours, including one in which he hit a brilliant four in the 17th over.
The second ball from Aiden Markram was bowled to midfoot and leg stump and Conway bent forward and played the ball to fine leg with just his right hand. Despite Marco Jansen’s tough counterattack, the ball escaped and the lead was 4 points.
Conway was eventually forced out with an injury to give other batsmen practice before England’s World Cup opener against New Zealand on October 5.
