Watch: Naseem Shah ran down the wicket after bowling a beauty which ripped-out Sherfane Rutherford’s off stump, roaring up close to the batter in celebration.
Naseem took two wickets in Islamabad United’s loss to Quetta Gladiators in the PSL today (February 22), with the former remaining in the game till the end and defending a low total. Naseem took the wicket of Saud Shakeel in two overs and bowled the last over in the 16th over after conceding 26 runs in the first three overs. At this point, the Gladiators were 108-4 and needed 31 points to win.
The first five balls of his over were uneventful, but a big miss on the last delivery forced Naseem to bowl again. He didn’t miss the opportunity. Naseem bowled around the wicket and sent an unplayable delivery, sending the ball flying past Rutherford’s outside edge and knocking his stumps off the ground.
Rutherford stared in disbelief at the ball he had just thrown and saw Naseem trot toward him. Naseem extended his arms in congratulations and gave a quick farewell as he approached the batsman. With this wicket, Naseem ended the play with his 2-34 and Rutherford had to give up 29 of his 23 balls.
Quetta Gladiators lost two more wickets in the next two overs and were at one point seven behind, but needed 12 more wickets to win. Mohammad Amir came on and hit two boundaries to seal the result and give Quetta Gladiators their third consecutive win in the competition.
