Mohammad Amir was the star of the show in Desert Vipers’ bowling effort against MI Emirates in the ILT20, taking 3-26, including an excellent final over.
The former Pakistan quick has put up impressive bowling performances in the UAE tournament so far, picking up two wickets and conceding 7.63 runs per over so far. It was an outstanding performance from him as he finished the innings with two overs. In his first match, he took the second ball from Kusal Perera and conceded only his two runs.
His second bat was more costly as Muhammad Waseem caught Amir and hit a six and two fours. There was a tight four-run over in the middle before Amir returned to number 20.
He faced the well-rounded Tim David, one of the most fearsome ball hitters in the game, but Amir won the battle. David hit a low full toss for the second pitch, but was saved by a rebound on the next ball. Trent Boult then attempted to throw himself to the ground, but failed midway through the match. Fazalhaq Farooqi saved his hat-trick ball and skipped the ball to third man for a single, but Amir caused another dismissal on the last ball. Dwayne Bravo spooned the ball up and although Amir was unable to reach out and catch it, he was able to pick it up and throw the stumps to the striker’s side.
Amir’s performance limited the Michigan State Emirates to 149-9, but the Desert Vipers struggled to chase.
