Watch: Marnus Labuschagne Catches Trent Boult, Steps On Rope In 2019 World Cup Final Role Reversal

Watch: Marnus Labuschagne caught Trent Boult but stepped on the rope in the process to concede a six in the Australia-New Zealand World Cup 2023 clash on October 28.

Josh Hazlewood came in to bowl in the 49th over with New Zealand needing 32 off 12 deliveries. He threw the ball way outside. Boult took a strike, swung the willow, and threw it into the distance. Labuschagne patrolled the perimeter and flicked the ball on the edge, but touched the ropes as he stepped back to complete the catch.

Boult came full circle when the Six relived a similar incident against England in their heartbreaking defeat in the World Cup final four years ago. Unlike the result in 2019 when Boult was on the receiving end, this time Boult was given six runs, reducing New Zealand’s required runs from 11 balls to 26 balls.

But Australia had the last laugh, winning the match by 13 points. Jimmy Neesham (58 off 39 balls) threatened to shoot down the target after Rachin Ravindra’s 89-ball 116 strike. However, Neesham lost in the final over and Australia won by five runs off him.
