Former Union SG striker Victor Boniface scored six goals in the Europa League last season.
Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has officially received the award as the top scorer in the 2022-23 Europa League, Soccernet.ng reported.
The Nigerian striker established himself as an outstanding striker with his impressive performances for Union SG in the 2022-23 season, earning him a spot on the Europa League top scorers list.
Boniface, who currently wears Leverkusen’s colors, scored six goals in the competition last season, splitting the top spot with Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford for the top scorer’s award.
Boniface was distinguished by his exceptional contribution to the Belgian side Saint-Giroise, scoring eight goals. This success propelled him to the top of the list of targets for the tournament.
To celebrate, Boniface humorously proclaimed on social media: “Think of Aboki as iron,” he said in Pidgin, a Nigerian language. This roughly translates to “My friend would think it was iron.”
