Watch: Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis smashed a 59-ball hundred with the help of nine sixes in the 2023 World Cup warm-up clash against Afghanistan on October 3.

Mendis was dismissed at No. 3 in the sixth over after opener Dimuth Karunaratne walked. He started cautiously and in his first nine balls he scored three, then in the 23rd ball he rose to 36 and hit two of his sixes, and in the second over of the game he hit Azmatulla. He hit a four off Omarzai.

He reached his first 50 in 30 balls and needed 29 more to reach his next 50, reaching the milestone in 21 overs of innings. After reaching the milestone, he played against Rashid Khan and scored maximum 3 runs off 6 balls.

Mendis hit 19 fours and nine sixes and scored 158 goals at a strike rate of 182 before retiring. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 294 with Mohammad Nabi finishing with 4-44.
