Jasprit Bumrah gave India the first breakthrough after Afghanistan took the lead at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. Afghanistan openers Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz made Afghanistan 28-0 in six overs.
Bumrah came to bowl the second ball and the first ball went over Zadran’s edge for a boundary. Bumrah switched to hard lengths but Zadran failed to score his next two balls.
The fourth ball was really great. Slightly backwards, the ball landed all around and was slightly straightened. Zadran only made a defensive push, but the snap went to wicketkeeper KL Rahul, who pocketed the ball safely.
Bumrah departs jubilantly, pointing to his temple, perhaps declaring that he has surpassed Zadran. The celebration was almost certainly inspired by English footballer Marcus Rashford, who has been in great form since returning from a long injury spell.
