Watch: ‘Is That A Match-Turner?’ – Travis Head Takes Sensational Diving Catch Running Backwards To End Rohit Sharma’s Blitz

Watch: Travis Head took a spectacular diving catch after running backwards to end Rohit Sharma‘s attacking start in the 2023 World Cup final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad (November 19).

Rohit Sharma was introduced into the match in the World Cup final and gave India a great start. He turned things around as Josh hit his second successive four runs to Hazlewood in his second over of the innings.

After two overs, they hit a six and four against Hazlewood to take India to 30-0 in four overs. Even when Shubman Gill moved away from the other end, Rohit’s attack did not stop. He hit Mitchell Starc for his six on the last ball of his fifth over and looked threatening.

Australia brought on Glenn Maxwell in the eighth over as they could not find any help from the water. Rohit didn’t face Maxwell’s performance in the first over, but when he hit the strike in the second over, Rohit wanted a piece of him.

The second ball of the 10th over was a long-on for six, followed by a cover-through hit for four. Rohit, who had already scored 10 from the first three balls, went out to hit Maxwell for another six but was not satisfied. This time, however, Travis cut towards the spot where his head had run backwards and dived the entire length to stop the enterprising attack.

If Rohit had hit 47 off 30 balls, it would have been fatal for Australia if Rohit had stayed longer. Ian Smith summed up the importance of the dismissal in his commentary: “Is this a game changer?”

India lost yet another wicket as Pat Cummins dismissed Shreyas Iyer and India fell to 81-3 from 10.2 overs.
