Watch: Hunain Shah, the 20-year-old brother of Naseem Shah, bowled a fast, swinging yorker to uproot Shan Masood‘s off-stump in the clash between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United at the National Stadium in Karachi yesterday (February 28).
Islamabad won the toss and batted first, sending the host team onto the field. In the first round, Imad Wasim scored, and in the third round, Tim Seifert was behind, giving Islamabad their first breakthrough. Reus du Ploy then formed a 40-run partnership with skipper Shan Masood for the second wicket and was bowled by Salman Ali Agha for 15 for 24 in the eighth over.
Hunain Shah was the sixth bowler handed the ball. He was substituted in the 10th over of the innings. After conceding eight runs in the first three balls, including a borderline no-ball, Hunain came back strong. The fourth ball was a yorker over the middle stumps, but Masood could only hit it back to the bowler.
The next ball of the same length hit Masood’s bat, which went slightly away from him and hit the stumps, causing his bat to wobble. Masood was dismissed after struggling with 27 off 30 balls. Karachi ended the innings on 165-5 with Hunain posting figures of 1-30 from his three overs.
In the chase, Colin Munro hit a 47-ball 82 to take Islamabad home. He was well supported by Alex Hales and for the first wicket he scored 47 off 35 and added 108 runs. Islamabad won by 7 wickets with his 9 balls remaining.
