In response, New Zealand’s batsmen started with Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway, with Hassan sharing the new ball with Haris Rauf.
Hassan bowled the second over and hit the first ball. The ball fell to the stumps and was swung into Conway’s pads. Conway flicked it away but Mohammad his Nawaz was able to catch it easily.
Conway was sent off for a duck, but Ravindra, along with Kane Williamson, laid a solid foundation for the chase. Ahead of the game, an update from New Zealand Cricket revealed that Williamson will miss the opening match of the World Cup between England and New Zealand as he will only bat in warm-up matches as captain.
