Watch: Hardik Pandya was seen talking into the ball just before taking the wicket of Imam-ul-Haq during the high-profile India-Pakistan game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad today (October 14).
Today, India played against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium and after taking the lead, they put up a dominant performance with the ball. Pakistan started well, at one point being 155-2 in 29.4 overs, but a huge collapse late in the innings saw them bowled out for 191, losing their last eight wickets for just 36 runs.
All the Indian bowlers bowled the ball. All five of his players – Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja – shared his two wickets each. Shardul Thakur was the only bowler who failed to pick up a wicket even though he bowled just 2 overs.
Of the ten Pakistan wickets that collapsed, Imam’s was the second one to be particularly interesting given the events surrounding his dismissal.
On the second ball of the 13th over, Pandya was hit for a four by Imam and won a point. As he prepared to bowl the next ball, Pandya was seen talking animatedly with the ball in his hand, as if he was working some magic. It is not clear what he said, but whatever it was, it seems to have worked, as he trapped Imam with his next delivery.
Pandya’s antics were not over yet. After dismissing the Imam, Pandya said goodbye to the Imam, shook her hand, and said something like “Thank you very much.”
In the end, Pandya finished with 2 wins and 34 losses. Another batsman he dismissed was Mohammad Nawaz.
