Watch: Discarded India batter Cheteshwar Pujara posted a video of himself batting in the nets today (December 30), a day after his long-time teammate Ajinkya Rahane did the same.
Rahane and Pujara are currently unpopular with the Indian Test team as they left the team after a long period of poor form.

The timing of these posts is interesting, as they were posted right after India’s crushing Test defeat at Centurion. Rahane, who was vice-captain in the previous Test series, was replaced by Shreyas Iyer in the South Africa Test, but Pujara was left out after the World Test Championship final and was replaced by Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Pujara’s recent post is captioned ‘Ranji Trophy Prep Mode’. The first round matches of Ranji Trophy 2023-24, India’s premier first-class tournament, are scheduled to begin on January 5. Pujara’s team Saurashtra will face Jharkhand at their home stadium in Rajkot early in the season. However, interestingly, in a recently released video, Pujara is seen practicing with a white ball instead of a red ball.
Pujara last posted a video of himself batting on social media on November 26, 2023, before the start of the country’s premier List A tournament, the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
