Watch: Joburg Super Kings chased down a target of 98 runs in 5.4 overs in a rain-hit game in SA20 2024, courtesy of their openers Faf du Plessis and Leus du Plooy.
SA20 2nd Round 23 match between Joburg Super Kings and MI Cape Town has been postponed due to rain. The Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first in a match that lasted eight overs.
Cape Town were 80-3 after eight overs. This is largely thanks to captain Kieron Pollard, who made his 33 cameo appearance in 10 balls. The Super Kings have set a revised target of 98 from 8 overs.
Faf du Plessis and Reus du Ploois appeared in JSK’s opening innings and started with full force. Du Prouiy hit the first two balls of his six innings, including a first-ball scoop shot, to take out Nuwan Tecera and score 18 runs in the first over.
Du Plessis then hit the first ball of his two overs, bowled by Kagiso Rabada, for a six, followed by two more balls from du Plooy. Another 18 runs over took JSK to 36th place with just 2 overs.
Even if it wasn’t a great start, the third over was bowled by George Linde and he scored 21 runs. Rabada was then hit by du Plessis for three consecutive fours and a six in his four overs, taking his total to 77.
Du Plessis remained unbeaten on 50 off 20 balls, while du Pplois was unbeaten on 41 off 14 balls and needed 10 more balls to complete the chase. Both scored his seven sixes and JSK got only his second win in eight matches.
