Virender Sehwag has called for providing free tickets to children for non-India games at the World Cup.

From a fan’s perspective, the World Cup’s sparse start to the tournament comes amid widespread criticism as people point to poor planning and ticket sales by the BCCI and ICC that led to the cancellation of the tournament the previous year. It caught the attention of the cricket crowd. Almost empty stands.
The Narendra Modi Stadium is the world’s largest cricket stadium, with a capacity of about 132,000 spectators, and even with a decent crowd, it appears relatively empty. The opening game of the tournament was held on a weekday without spectators, and the participation of the host team also contributed to the low attendance for the game.
Virender Sehwag joined the discussion surrounding the empty stands and suggested that primary school and university students should be given free tickets to World Cup matches where India is not participating.
“It would be nice if more people would come during non-business hours. However, for matches outside of Bharat (India), free tickets should be provided for schools and college students,” Sehwag said. he said. “With interest in 50-over matches waning, it’s definitely helpful for young players to experience World Cup matches and for players to be able to play in front of packed stadiums.”
Hopefully after office hours, there should be more people coming in. But for games not featuring Bharat, there should be free tickets for school and college children. With the fading interest in 50 over game, it will definitely help that youngsters get to experience a World Cup…

A few days ago,MCC’s new president Mark Nicholas said that MCC “strongly believes” that ODIs should be limited to the World Cup. “We think it is currently difficult to justify bilaterally.
