In the historic clash between India and Nepal at the 2023 Asian Cup, Virat Kohli was dying to dance to Nepalese tunes and added an interesting touch to his team’s performance.
The September 4th match was Nepal’s all-around debut against India and was a defining moment for both sides. Nepal have struggled against Pakistan so far, losing in the tournament’s opening match after conceding just 104 goals.
However, partly due to Men in Blue’s poor outfield play, they performed well with their racquets against India.
Opener Asif Sheikh proved his mettle for the first time in half a century, while all-rounder Sompar Kami scored 48 points in the closing stages of the game to take Nepal to 230 points. The Indian team got off to a shaky start as Shreyas Ayer, Virat Kohli and Ishan Kishan dropped catches within the first five overs.
However, impressive performances from Shardur Thakur and Rabindra Jadeja helped India regain their footing in the match.
As the game progressed, the rain almost stopped and fans and players alike enjoyed the excitement of the game. Especially he seemed to enjoy Virat Kohli very much.
Virat Kohli’s contagious enthusiasm culminated when a Nepali song played during a side change. She couldn’t contain her excitement and danced to the lively song. Videos of his dancing quickly went viral on his social media.

After Jadeja’s 3-wicket victory, Mohamed Siraj and Mohamed Shammi delivered impressive performances in the second half of the match to seal India’s victory. Thanks to Somphal’s performance, Nepal was able to finish the innings with just over 200 innings and 230 innings.
Men in Blue won the match by 10 wickets. Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma topped the 50s and India easily reached the revised 145 target.
