Villarreal want Chukwueze again, but UEFA rule makes transfer impossible

Chukwueze only joined AC Milan in the summer but is finding it difficult to settle in

Spanish La Liga club Villarreal is interested in signing Super Eagles striker Samuel Chukwueze on loan, but Soccernet.ng is unable to do so due to UEFA regulations. Reported.

Chukwueze moved to Serie A giants AC Milan in the summer for 28 million euros. The Nigerian attacker was expected to take the league by storm last season, with 13 goals and 11 assists in 52 games.

However, the Super Eagles star has not yet reached the expected heights. Chukwueze has two goals and one assist in 19 games. There were some great moments, but most were disappointing.

Meanwhile, Villarreal, who are struggling in Spain’s top flight, were looking for a winger and one of their options was Chukwueze, given his past with the club.

According to AS, however, Yellow Submarine looked elsewhere due to UEFA rules that prohibit players who leave the club before their contract expires from returning on loan to their former team. To explain further, Chukwueze had one year left on his contract before Villarreal sold him in the summer. If he then returns to Villarreal on loan, UEFA will consider Chukwueze to have his two association licenses with Milan and Villarreal this season.

Still, Chukwueze could be loaned out this season, but it would not be a move to Villarreal.
