‘Very good finish’– Ex-Manchester United star Owen hails Super Eagles star’s goal

Michael Owen was known for his goalscoring ability during his prime, wearing the colors of Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United, among others

Former Manchester United star Michael Owen praised Super Eagles defender Ola Aina’s goal during Nottingham Forest’s match against Aston Villa, Soccernet.ng reported.

Aina played a key role for Steve Cooper’s side as they secured all three points against the Villains in the English Premier League.

Aina, Nottingham Forest’s last Player of the Month, made headlines by scoring goals for the Reds.

He finished quickly and accurately with his side foot, sending the ball neatly into the bottom left corner of the net.

Former Crystal Palace star Clinton Morrison previously praised Aina’s performance and now former England international Owen has also praised the Nigerian full-back’s goal.

“Ola Aina’s goal was quite spectacular. You might expect a ball like this to hit the laces from a distance of 25 meters, but it actually hit very hard on the instep. It’s a controlled finishing shot. It’s a side-footed finish and I’m a big supporter of that. I think people want too much power. It’s a really nice finish.” Quoted on the Premier League’s official website Owen’s comment.

Fans have high expectations for the Nigerian star. He will be a huge boost to Jose Peceiro’s Super Eagles team in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Over the coming weeks, the Nottingham Forest defender will aim to continue his impressive performances at domestic level.
