The highly anticipated UFC 294 event suffered a major setback when the highly anticipated bout between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira was canceled due to Oliveira’s eyebrow injury. It was then confirmed that Paulo Costa would be sidelined due to arm surgery. Khamzat Chimaev will face former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in the co-main event, with Dana White confirming that there will be significant changes to the event’s lineup.

Kamaru Usman defeated Tyron Woodley at UFC 235 in 2019 to win the UFC welterweight title. He successfully defended his title five times before losing to Leon Edwards at UFC 278 in 2022. In March, Usman faced Edwards again at UFC 286, but again lost. Usman’s record stands at 20 wins, 3 losses, and no draws.
Khamzat Chimaev, on the other hand, is a rising star in the sport and boasts an undefeated record of 12-0 in professional MMA. His last fight was at UFC 279 in September 2022, where he defeated Kevin Holland by submission. It’s worth noting that Chimaev has finished six of his seven matches with suspension.
