Earlier this month, Zimbabwe hosted three T20I tournaments in Ireland. The first match (the country’s first day-night match) was won on the last ball, but Ireland rallied to win the series 2-1.
Both teams will play three ODIs on December 13, 15 and 17 at Harare Sports Club.
The teams have played each other 19 times and won eight times, but two games ended without a result. As is well known, the first meeting between the two teams at the 2007 World Cup ended in a draw.
Zimbabwe leads 6-3 at home. At the beginning of the year, they were tied 1–1 in their home series.
Neither team qualified for the 2019 and 2023 World Cups. However, there is a chance that the ICC will once again expand the participating teams for his 2027 World Cup to 14 teams and give qualification to both teams based on their ODI rankings.
