David Warner‘s Baggy Green has gone missing ahead of his farewell Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Warner, who will play his final Test match for Australia starting tomorrow (January 3), posted a video on his Instagram account showing himself wearing a baggy green cap on a flight from Melbourne to Sydney. He explained that he had lost it in his backpack.
Warner has confirmed that the Sydney Test against Pakistan will be his last in mid-2023. He also announced his retirement from ODIs two days before the match. However, on the eve of his farewell test, Warner appeared to have lost his baggy green hat.
In a video posted on Instagram (the “Last Resort” video), Warner appeals to the person who took his cap to return it. “As a last resort, a backpack containing Baggy Green was removed from my luggage which was taken to Melbourne Airport a few days ago and flown to Sydney on Qantas.
“Qantas said they checked the cameras and found no one had opened the bag or taken the backpack, but they have a blind spot.”
“If you worked for a company that drove backpacks to the airport, or if you worked for Qantas and happened to want a backpack, I’ll get it for you.” Return it as soon as possible I would appreciate it if you could. thank you. ”
Warner said the baggy green is sentimental to him and he wouldn’t mind swapping his backpack for it, especially considering it will be the last time in his career that he will take the field in a Test match. he added.
“It’s sentimental to me and something I want to have again when I go out this week.” If that’s the backpack you really wanted, here’s a spare one. You won’t have any trouble. Please contact Cricket Australia or me via social media. If you give me back my baggy green, I’ll be happy to give you this [backpack],” Warner said.
The New Year’s Test in Sydney begins on January 3 and Australia have already built a comfortable 2-0 lead.
