Ravindra Jadeja’s performance of 35 runs off 24 balls helped India achieve a good result.
In contrast, Sri Lanka suffered a repeat of their disastrous defeat in the 2023 Asian Cup finals, falling to 3 wins and 4 losses. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj entered the match with the ball early on, before Mohammed Shami destroyed the rest of the opposition batting order and finished the match with 5-18.
Sri Lanka were eliminated with 55 points, the third-highest score in World Cup history and the lowest of any full member nation. Canada (2003 and 1979, 36 games and 45 games) and Namibia (2003, 45 games) top the undesirable list for lowest team innings at the World Cup. .
