The Super Eagles defender just returned to action after a brief injury layoff, but looks set to be sidelined again

Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi suffers a muscle injury in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk and will miss Porto’s games in the coming weeksSoccer Net reported.

Ahead of Porto’s Champions League opener on Tuesday, Sanusi had been sidelined for the past two weeks with a minor injury.

However, he returned for the match against Shakhtar Donetsk in Germany. The 26-year-old super Eagles star started for the Dragons against Ukraine.

Unfortunately, he was sent off from the pitch at half-time, but coach Sergio Conceição later clarified that it was a precautionary measure.

However, coach Conceição announced that Sanussi has suffered a muscular injury and will be out for several weeks.

Conceição is quoted as saying by Sapo newspaper: “Zaidu (Sanusi) is out and will be out for the next few weeks.”

“It’s a muscle injury. Unfortunately, we had some issues like Marcano and Evanilson. We have a solution and the breach will not change our strategy or plans

There are other players who could fill that position, but of course I always want everyone to be available.”< /p>

Porto has Wendell in that position, so Sanussi might not miss out too much. Still, the Eagles star is hoping to be fully fit again soon.
