Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped two places to 42nd in the current FIFA rankings after draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in the last international break, reports Soccernet.ng. Masu.
In the latest rankings released on October 26, Nigeria was ranked 40th in the world and 6th in Africa. However, they failed to beat Zimbabwe and Lesotho in her first two matches of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, resulting in losses.
The three-time African champions were favorites to win against these two teams, but made a mistake. They dropped a point against 153rd-placed Lesotho in Abuja, but took a point from 125th-placed Zimbabwe three days later on neutral ground.
Following these results, the Super Eagles are currently ranked 42nd in the world rankings. However, it remains in 6th place on the continent. Lesotho and Zimbabwe, on the other hand, benefited from the draw, with Lesotho moving up five places to place him in 148th place and Zimbabwe moving up one place to him in 124th place.
In Africa, there was no change in the top five, with Morocco retaining its top spot. Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt round out the top five.
On the world stage, Argentina and France remain the two top countries. England and Belgium are currently in third and fourth place, replacing Brazil in fifth place. The Netherlands and Portugal swapped her sixth and seventh places, while Spain, Italy and Croatia rounded out the top ten.
