Super Eagles coach Finidi optimistic, Wydad AC manager Ramzi cautious ahead of Enyimba clash in AFL QF

The nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions lost to Morocco’s Wydad AC in the first leg of the African Football League quarter-finals.

Enyimba head coach Finidi George and Wydad Athletic Club manager Adil Ramzi have spoken about their desire to win the second leg of the African Football League quarter-finals, reports Soccernet.ng reported. >

The People’s Elephants had several chances to equalize and even win the match, but Chijoke Mbaoma, Ekenne Awaji and Daniel Daga all missed their chances as they came.

However, Finidi is confident Enyimba can secure an away win and progress to the AFL semi-finals.

“Soccer is about scoring goals. If we had scored, the overall result would have been different,” Finidi said on Brila FM.

“The second leg is coming up in a few days.” I’m happy that we wanted to win the match, but I’m also happy that we only lost 0-1, which gives us another chance to get there. It was done. Let’s go and see if we can do it.

“If we have the same opportunities here and can take advantage of one or two, it will be a completely different game.”

“We are very optimistic about the second leg, but it’s disappointing that we lost the first leg.”

Despite Finidi’s optimism, Wydad has the advantage of securing a spot among the four semi-finalists when the two teams meet again.

The Reds will look to confirm their superiority when they attack Enyimba in the second leg scheduled for Wednesday at the Mohammed V Complex.

Yet, Wydad head coach Adil Ramji fears complacency.

The Moroccan tactician urged his team to complete the work started in Nigeria.

According to Le Martin newspaper, Adil Ramzi said, “This is a match with two periods.”

“I’m happy with today’s result, especially because we scored and didn’t concede.”

“Enyimba are a good team, so we have to focus on Casablanca in the second leg. The match will only end when the referee blows the whistle.”

Abba Warriors and Adil Ramji’s side will play in the second leg at Casablanca’s Stade Mohamed V.
