The People’s Elephants want to make their case on the continent and Peceiro firmly supports them
Super Eagles coach Jose Peceiro expressed his support for Enyimba ahead of Sunday’s African Football League game against Wydad Casablanca, Soccer reported.
Enyimba are the only Nigerian club selected to participate in the inaugural AFL competition. The People’s Elephants faced Morocco’s top club Wydad Casablanca.
Both teams will face Wydad in a two-legged tie with Enyimba at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Sunday. They will then head to Morocco for the second leg three days later.
“I wish Enyimba every success in their African Football League debut tomorrow. Good luck to all the players and staff.”Peseiro wrote about X.
Enyimba’s ticket to the AFL came with two Champions League wins in 2003 and 2004.
However, they have not been able to make a name for themselves on the continent since losing in the semi-finals of the 2011 CAF Champions League.
But under the guidance of Finidi George, they will look to make their mark in the AFL. The winner of the duel will face the winner of the duel between TP Mazembe and Esperance Tunis in the semi-finals.
