This youngster has the potential to become one of the best full-backs Italy has produced in recent years

Arsenal are keeping their eyes firmly on Fiorentina’s exciting youngster Michael Kayode, who has taken Serie A by storm, reports Soccernet.ng.

Kayode, 19, had never played in Italy’s top flight before this season. However, the 19-year-old has earned his place in Fiorentina’s first team this season, making five appearances in various competitions, including four in Serie A.

The teenager was particularly impressive in Fiorentina’s last game against Cagliari.

Kayode skilfully captured the crucial goal line and sent in a low cross that led to his own goal, contributing to Fiorentina’s impressive 3-0 victory and propelling the club to 5th place in the standings .

According to a report by Italian broadcaster Football News 24, Kayode’s “exponential development” has attracted interest from clubs outside Italy, with Arsenal leading the pursuit.

The Gunners reportedly sent scouts to closely monitor the young defender’s last 90 minutes of the match.

According to the same report, Arsenal officials were particularly impressed with Kayode’s performance at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Kayode currently has a contract until 2025 with an option for a further year and his annual salary is 30,000 euros.

However, Fiorentina want to secure him long-term and may offer significantly improved terms to keep him in his place.

Kayode’s journey began in Juventus’ youth organization, where he honed his skills before spending three formative years at Fiorentina’s academy.

Born in Borgonamero, Italy to Nigerian parents, he represented Italy at U-18 and U-19 level.

Although he was invited to the U-21 European Championship qualifiers against Latvia and Turkey in September, he remained a substitute in both games.

The young full-back is still eligible to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, but he is also being watched by Italian national team head coach Luciano Spalletti.
