Serie A: AC Milan eye Montpellier’s Akor Adams to complement former Arsenal and Chelsea star

The Nigerian striker has made a splash in Ligue 1 since joining from the less popular Norwegian League in the summer

Following his impressive performance in France, Montpellier native Eikor Adams has attracted the attention of Italian soccer powerhouse AC Milan, Soccernet.ng reports.

Stefano Pioli’s Serie A giants are looking for a centre-forward who can replace Olivier Giroud at key moments of the season.

Milan’s search for a suitable candidate has not been very successful so far, as Luka Jovic has not lived up to expectations and has not made much of an impact for the Rossoneri.

As a result, attention shifted to Montpellier’s Akole Adams, a player who fits the team’s needs, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Adams is a Nigerian soccer player born in 2000 who has a stocky build and is 190 cm tall. His preferred position is center forward, and he has always performed well.

However, he has also shown versatility, sometimes playing as an attacking midfielder or winger on either wing.

After honing his Norwegian soccer skills with Sogndal and Lilleström, Adams went on to have an impressive career. He played in 106 matches, scoring 44 goals and recording 14 assists.

But it was in France that it really flourished.

Adams moved to Montpellier in August and made an immediate impact, scoring two goals on his debut against Le Havre on 13 August.

He has already scored seven goals in 11 games, which is almost half of Montpellier’s goals in Ligue 1 this season.

Despite this, he is yet to make his debut for the Nigeria national team and only appeared in two matches at the 2019 U20 World Cup.

In Montpellier’s most recent match against former Milan manager Francesco Farioli’s OGC Nice, Adams once again displayed his attacking skills, although he did not score.

The 23-year-old scored a goal that hit the crossbar, proving he has the ability to put opposing defenses in trouble.

His ability to find the net makes him a potential asset for AC Milan, especially in Giroud’s absence or where he could line up with the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker in a formidable attacking partnership .

Milan signed Adams’ compatriot Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal in the summer, and the Super Eagles winger recorded an assist in the 2-2 draw with Lecce at the weekend.
