Sainz takes over to top Day 2 from Perez

Carlos Sainz set the fastest time on the second day of the 2024 F1 Bahrain test, with Sergio Perez second and Lewis Hamilton third.

Red Bull had the upper hand on the first day of the 2024 F1 Bahrain test, but Ferrari made a comeback on the second day, with Sainz setting the pace on the C4 compound. He recorded his 1:29.921 minute lap, completing a total of 84 laps, ahead of Perez, who posted the best lap on the C3 compound.

He clocked one lap in 1:30.679 minutes and completed 129 laps, but it was not easy to get a clean run. There were some problems with the car on the day, but Red Bull, like Max Verstappen on the first day, were able to quickly rectify them and still maintain a respectable number of laps.

Mercedes’ Hamilton completed 123 laps on the C3 compound and finished third with a lap of 1 minute 31.066 minutes. Sainz set his best time in the afternoon, but Perez and Hamilton, as you can see, spent the entire day setting amazing laps.

McLaren’s Lando Norris finished fourth in the afternoon session, with Visa Cash App RB’s Daniel Ricciardo setting the best time on the C4 site. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished 6th despite only running in the morning.

After having an early lunch and extending his afternoon session by an hour, he also ran in the afternoon. The accident occurred after Leclerc was run over by a loose drain cover at the exit of Turn 11. After Hamilton also tried, he ran her over twice.

The session was postponed and ended early for lunch as organizers resolved the issue while Ferrari had to resort to replacing its chassis. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll finished seventh in the afternoon results, ahead of Alpine’s Esteban Ocon and Stake F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri finished in the top 10 after the morning race. Williams’ Logan Sargent ran exclusively for the team and finished 11th. Despite completing 117 laps, the team had some issues that they were able to resolve.

Among the morning runners, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso finished 12th ahead of Stake F1 team’s Chou Guanyu and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly. Haas’ Kevin Magnussen ran in the afternoon this time, finishing 15th ahead of teammate Nico Hulkenberg, while Visa Cash Up RB Hiroki Tsunoda completed the field with 17 runners.

The FIA ​​hosted a virtual safety car, safety car and red flag test in the final stages, which also included rolling start training, with drivers such as Hamilton, Norris, Bottas, Ocon, Magnussen and Perez taking part.
