SA Vs IND: Dean Elgar To Retire From Tests After India Series

Dean Elgar has announced his retirement from Test cricket, with the New Year’s Test against India in Cape Town set to be his last.

Elgar has played 84 Tests so far and led South Africa in 17 Tests from 2017 to 2023. The left-handed opening batsman has scored over 5,000 runs in Test cricket, averaging 37.28 runs.

Elgar made his Test debut for South Africa in 2012, ending a 12-year career. He acknowledged this in his statement. “It has always been a dream of mine to play cricket and to have the opportunity to represent my country is awesome!” said Elgar.
